ATTORNEY DONALD
JAY SCHWARTZ NAMED TO LONG ISLAND TRIO COMMITTEE
Mineola, May 13, 2002 — Donald Jay Schwartz, a resident
of Oceanside, NY, and a partner in the Mineola-based law
firm Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP, has joined the Long Island chapter of
the Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO)
as a committee member. His interest in volunteering to advance
TRIO’s mission to support, advocate, and educate on
matters of the transplant process, stems from an awareness
gained when his sister underwent a liver transplant.
“The scientific advances in organ transplants have
saved many lives, including my sister’s” noted
Schwartz, “And TRIO has been a significant voice in
transplant initiatives, heightening public awareness, advocating
on healthcare issues with government agencies, and most
importantly, providing much-needed support to donor families
and donor recipients.”
Long Island TRIO (www.litrio.com), located in Garden City,
NY, produces newsletters and a website with links to the
latest information on a range of issues from medical coverage
to the need and benefit of organ donation. In addition to
annual events to celebrate donors and recipients, LI TRIO
has formed a choral group. The Long Island Trio Singers
are being considered as guest singers of the national anthem
at a Mets baseball game.
Donald Jay Schwartz’s legal practice at The Firm
is concentrated on all phases of commercial and civil litigation,
including matters of personal injury, commercial landlord
and tenant, partnership, and insurance law. He anticipates
that his legal background will benefit TRIO in many of its
efforts. “My association with Long Island TRIO is
new, and I look forward to evaluating the best means for
my participation in helping to meet the chapter’s
goals,” stated Schwartz.
