The Firm ANNOUNCES LATEST EXPANSION
The firm of Ricca & Donnelly joins Long
Island’s 13th largest law firm
Mineola, October 01, 2002 — The Mineola-based law
firm Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino, & Cohn,
LLP (The Firm) today announced the firm’s acquisition
of the law practice of Ricca & Donnelly (R&D), a
general practice law firm based in Jericho, NY, concentrating
in the areas of Real Estate, Co-op Law, Banking Law, Bankruptcy,
Corporate Law, and Trusts and Estates. R&D principals
James Ricca, Esq., and James E. Cantanno, Esq., will join
as partners, Leslie C. Plump as Of Counsel, and Robert Thomas
Reiman will join The Firm as an associate. The R&C
15-person firm, including administrative staff, will move
to the The Firm offices at 330 Old Country Road in Mineola,
NY, effective immediately.
In making the announcement, The Firm Managing Partner
Jeffrey D. Forchelli, stated, “The acquisition of
R&D opens new avenues by bringing aboard a roster of
attorneys with experience, talent, and reputation, while
broadening the scope of the representation we offer our
clients.”
The acquisition of R&D is the fourth expansion undertaken
by The Firm in the last five years. Founded in 1976 by
Forchelli, The Firm has based its growth on the merger
or acquisition of established practices, from the addition
of William S. Cohn in 1998; Curto, Barton & Alesi, P.C.
in 1999; Terence Smolev P.C. in 2001; and now, Ricca &
Donnelly. In 2002, Armand D’Amato rejoined the firm
as Of Counsel. The strategy has enabled The Firm to offer
its corporate and individual clients a full compendium of
services, while successfully competing with other firms.
Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn, LLP,
has 37 lawyers specializing in the practice areas of land
use and zoning, environmental law, tax certiorari, litigation,
banking and financing, commercial and corporate transactions,
trusts and estates, tax and elder law, municipal law, business
and personal transactions. With the acquisition of R&D,
The Firm will enhance its representation of lenders in
closing loans, including the negotiation and closing of
bulk loan sales aggregating hundreds of millions of dollars.
With the move, R&D will retain its major client, Columbia
Federal and Savings, adding to The Firm’s current
roster, including, among others, Northrop Grumman Corp,
Cablevision Systems Corp, and Photocircuits Corp.
On joining the firm, Partner James Ricca remarked, “I
am enthusiastic about our association with The Firm.
I’ve had the opportunity to observe and to work with
the firm’s attorneys in the past and am impressed
with the caliber of work they do. I am equally enthusiastic
about the successful integration of our personnel and the
future of the firm.”
