Donald Jay Schwartz recently served
as Judge for the New York regional Student Trial Advocacy
Competition
Mineola, March 2009 — Donald
Jay Schwartz, Litigation Partner at Forchelli,
Curto, Crowe, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo and Cohn LLP, recently
served as Judge for the New York Regional Student Trial
Advocacy Competition held at the Kings County Supreme Court. STAC
is an annual nationwide mock trial competition involving
224 teams from 125 law schools. The goal of the program
is to inspire excellence in trial advocacy.
Mr. Schwartz joined
the firm in 1977 and has developed an expertise in all
aspects of commercial litigation, involving such areas
as real estate, corporate, partnership, commercial landlord
and tenant, employer and employee rights, insurance law
and personal injury. Mr. Schwartz also manages all aspects
of the firm's litigation practice.
Mr. Schwartz serves on the Board of Directors of the Transplant
Recipients International Organization (TRIO) and is the
recipient of the Court Officer's Benevolent Association
of Nassau County's Jurisperitus Award.
Mr. Schwartz is a member of the New York State District
Attorneys Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers
Association, the Jewish Lawyers Association of Nassau County
and the New York State Bar Association. He is also a member
of the Nassau County Bar Association and serves on a number
of its committees, including the Grievance Committee, which
is by appointment only, where he holds the position of
Vice Chairman.
