The Firm
ATTORNEY FINALIZES DEAL FOR MARCUS ORGANIZATION PURCHASE
OF FARMINGDALE, NY, PROPERTY
Mineola, February 08, 2003 — The Mineola-based law
firm Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP — spearheaded by partner Brian R.
Sahn — has managed the acquisition of the former BJ’s
Wholesale Club property at 123 Smith Street, Farmingdale,
NY on behalf of principals Arnold and Jonathan Marcus of
The Marcus Organization, David and Eric Schuss, Ronald Sholom
and Lawrence Blau.
In addition to handling the land use, environmental, title,
facilities and organizational matters on behalf of the purchasers
in the $7,4000,000 purchase, Sahn also managed the negotiation
of a 15-year lease agreement for the entire 115,000 square-foot
building to sole tenant, ICON Laboratories Inc. “Working
with this group of principals to enable them to make their
vision reality was truly satisfying,” noted Sahn.
“This is a progressive move for The Marcus Organization
and Long Island.”
ICON a subsidiary of publicly traded ICON plc (Dublin, Ireland),
is a contract research organization that provides clinical
research and product development services to biotechnology
and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. ICON expects to
bring many technology-related jobs to Long Island. Consequently,
the project qualified for Town of Babylon IDA benefits as
an inducement for locating in the Town of Babylon.
The Marcus Organization based in Hauppauge, New York will
act as the construction manager in the development of the
site for ICON located along Long Island’s business
corridor in Farmingdale, NY. “The successful acquisition
of this property and the completion of a complicated lease
negotiation with ICON required Brian’s expert due
diligence abilities and we are pleased to now be able to
move forward,” remarked Arnold Marcus, CEO of The
Marcus Organization.
The Firm recently announced its latest expansion in four
years of continual growth — the addition of New York
State Senator John J. Flanagan to the firm. The firm will
also open a Suffolk County office in Melville next month,
and the firm recently named four associates as partners.
