ANTHONY V.
CURTO TO CHAIR 5TH ANNUAL “THE TOMMY AWARDS”
Mineola, July 02, 2003 — Anthony V. Curto, prominent
Long Island attorney and name partner at the law firm Forchelli,
Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn, LLP, will chair
The Fifth Annual Monsignor Thomas J. Hartman “The
Tommy” Awards to be held at the Crest Hollow Country
Club on October 14, 2003.
Curto, a 10-year regular guest on “Father Tom and
Friends” – a weekly broadcast on Telecare, the
nonprofit television and production facility of the Diocese
of Rockville Center – has been a friend and advisor
to Msgr. Hartman for over 15 years. In April 2002, Curto
joined Telecare’s Board of Directors; in 1998 he was
a Telecare honoree.
“The committee and I are very grateful to Tony for
accepting the considerable responsibility of chairing the
5th Annual “The Tommy” Awards dinner,”
stated Msgr. Hartman. “With Tony at the helm, and
NY Jets Football legend Joe Namath, best selling author
May Higgins Clark, and Frederic V. Salerno of Verizon as
our honorees, it will be a beneficial and festive time for
all.”
The Tommy Awards were founded by Telecare as a: “tribute
to the talent and service of Monsignor Thomas J. Hartman.
The Awards recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals
who have improved humanity through serious and dedicated
efforts in their personal and professional lives.”
“The Tommy Awards recognize those individuals who
have made a humanitarian difference and who have contributed
to the fields of print, technology, entertainment, business,
and athletics,” said Curto. “Chairing the 5th
Annual Awards is an occasion for me to give back and to
stand alongside Tom Hartman – a man who has inspired
us all. The night is about achievement and dedication, with
our honorees leading examples of those qualities we wish
to recognize.”
In addition to leading his firm’s corporate transactional
division, Curto’s resume is a “who’s who”
of legal representation. He has represented Aleksandr I.
Solzhenitsyn, Harry Chapin, Freeman McNeil, and Liza Minnelli,
among others, and currently represents guitarist Esteban
– one of today’s top Billboard artists and Mike
Francesa, co-host of “Mike and The Mad Dog”
show on WFAN. He has been associated with high-profile business
matters, and was the first attorney to successfully negotiate
a trademark from the NFL for a fan – the Jets team
superfan “Fireman Eddie.”
On gaining office in 2002, Nassau County Executive Thomas
Suozzi selected Curto to serve on the Nassau County Council
of Economic Advisors to work with the new administration
to expand the county’s tax base. Curto is the recipient
of a Congressional Achievement Award and a Martin Luther
King “Living the Dream” Service Award. He is
both volunteer and advisor for community and not-for-profit
groups, including the Harry Chapin Foundation, Huntington
Arts Council, and the Huntington Cinema Arts Centre.
The 5th Annual Tommy Awards Dinner will benefit Telecare
and will be held Tuesday, October 14th at Crest Hollow Country
Club in Woodbury, cocktails at 6:30 and dinner at 7:30.
