JEFFREY D.
FORCHELLI ENDOWS PROFESSOR OF LAW CHAIR AT BROOKLYN LAW
SCHOOL
Mineola, November 06, 2003 — Jeffrey D. Forchelli,
one of Long Island’s most prominent attorneys, and
the founder and managing partner of the law firm Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP
with offices in Mineola and Melville, NY, recently endowed
the Jeffrey D. Forchelli Professor of Law chair at Brooklyn
Law School.
“Law School Professors help to shape America’s
future lawyers and the practice of law,” said Forchelli.
“The Jeffrey D. Forchelli Professor of Law recognizes
that critical role, and personally establishes a family
legacy that reflects my own, my father’s, my uncle’s,
and now, my daughter’s, pursuit of the profession
through studies at Brooklyn Law School.” Mr. Forchelli
is extremely proud of the three generation relationship
with Brooklyn Law.
A century after it was founded in a basement in Brooklyn
Heights, Brooklyn Law School today enrolls 1,500 students
in its full-time and part-time programs. Its students are
drawn from all over the nation and world, its faculty is
comprised of world-class scholars and teachers, and there
are over 16,000 alumni of the Law School, leaders in practice,
government and major corporations.
Brooklyn Law School Dean Joan G. Wexler has named Professor
Neil B. Cohen the Jeffrey D. Forchelli Professor of Law.
A member of the faculty since 1985 and a resident of Brooklyn,
NY, Cohen is a widely recognized expert in domestic and
international commercial law, contracts, and constitutional
law. He was the reporter for the American Law Institute’s
Restatement of the Law of Suretyship and Guaranty, and was
named ALI’s R. Ammi Cutter Reporter for his work.
He is a frequent lecturer — as well as author —
on commercial law issues, and serves as the Director of
Research of the Permanent Editorial Board for the Uniform
Commercial Code. He is a regular contributor to Commercial
Law Report and New York Law Journal.
Jeffrey D. Forchelli earned his J.D. at Brooklyn Law School
in 1969 and founded the The Firm firm in 1976. He concentrates
his practice on complex real estate and land use matters,
including litigation and tax certiorari, for major real
estate developers and national corporations. His client
list includes Northrop Grumman Corp. and Cablevision Systems
Corp. Today, the firm ranks 13th in size on Long Island
and provides comprehensive legal services.
He has served as Counsel to the New York State Assembly
and the Legal Advisory Board, as well as Board of Directors
for Security Title and Guaranty Company. He is a member
of the New York State and Nassau Country Bar Associations,
and a Fellow of The New York Bar Foundation. He is consistently
named among the Who’s Who in Law published by the
Long Island Business News and was selected for inclusion
in the 8th edition of Who’s Who in American Law.
