Smolev Named Board Treasurer of New York City Police Museum
Mineola, May 01, 2004 — Terence E. Smolev, Esq., a
resident of Jericho, New York, has been named Treasurer
of the Board of Directors of the New York City Police Museum.
Smolev, partner-in-charge of the Tax, Trusts and Estates
Division of Long Island’s thirteenth largest law firm,
Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP, joined the Museum’s board one year
ago and now, as Treasurer, will oversee all the finances
of the Museum.
Museum Executive Committee President Carol Safir, wife of
former New York City Police Commissioner Howard Safir, announced
key Board positions after recent elections. Current members
of the Board include: Bill Fugazy, Mary Hardin, William
C. Rudin, Howard Safir, Brian Waterman and John Wren.
New York City Police Museum is located at 100 Old Slip in
lower Manhattan, four blocks from the South Street Seaport,
and is dedicated to the 150-year history of New York City’s
“finest” and the preservation of that history.
Smolev began his career at a New York City accounting firm
before establishing a private legal practice on Long Island
and eventually merging his firm with The Firm in 2000.
A graduate of Washington College of Law at The American
University, and New York University Graduate School of Law,
Smolev is an adjunct professor at Hofstra University Schools
of Business and Law. He is an expert member of the Nassau
County Audit Advisory Committee. He also serves on the Hofstra
University Board of Trustees and the Israeli Bond Long Island
Cabinet. He is an Impartial Hearing Officer for disputes
in the public school and municipal systems.
