Long Island Business Long Island Business News Names Partner Barbara Shaheen Alesi one of Long Island's Top 50 Women
LIBN Award is Alesi’s Second

Mineola, May 07, 2005 — Attorney, Barbara Shaheen Alesi, a resident of Glen Cove, NY, and partner at the Mineola-based law firm of Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn LLP, has been named one of Long Island’s Top 50 Women for 2005. This is the second time Ms. Alesi has been selected by The Long Island Business News for this prestigious distinction. She first earned a Top 50 Women of Long Island award in 2001.

“I am proud to take my place with the other 49 women who contribute to the quality of our lives here on Long Island,” said Alesi. “I am grateful to Long Island Business News for this recognition and the Awards Dinner promises to be a terrific night with family, friends and colleagues.”

The Top 50 Women of Long Island Awards Committee reviews nominations submitted by small and large businesses, professional firms, and associations before electing its roster of businesswomen for recognition. The Committee’s criteria are based not only on contributions to the economy, but also personal contributions to Long Island’s community affairs.

Barbara Shaheen Alesi, the first female partner at Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn LLP, concentrates her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial matters, including commercial real estate transactions, private placements of securities and mortgage and asset-based financing.

Alesi earned her J.D. at St. John’s University School of Law after attending college at the State University of New York at Geneseo, graduating magna cum laude. Upon graduation she worked at major law firms before joining with Anthony Curto and Anthony Barton to form the Huntington-based firm, Curto Barton & Alesi, P.C.

In 1999, CB&A incorporated their practice areas into the prominent land use and zoning practice firm, Forchelli, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn to create today’s full-service law firm, Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn LLP. The Firm has been distinguished with the Huntington Chamber Regional Partnership Award of Excellence and consistently appears in annual “Who’s Who” lists.

Alesi is the recipient of honors from the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Executive Women’s Golf Association, and Long Island Business News. She is an expert source, bylining articles for BusinessLI and Nassau Lawyer, and has appeared as a panelist for News12 At Issue, among other media. She is a volunteer presenter for panels informing the public on critical matters.

Alesi is active in civic and not-for-profit organizations, serving as chair of the North Shore Animal League President’s Advisory Board, a Board Member and Secretary of the National Association for Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the membership committee of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
