Partner Donald
Jay Schwartz Elected to the Board of Directors of Transplant
Recipients International Organization/ Long Island
Mineola, June 07, 2005 — Donald Jay Schwartz, a resident
of Long Beach, NY, and a partner in the Mineola-based law
firm of Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino &
Cohn LLP (The Firm), has been elected to the Board of
Directors of the Long Island chapter of the not-for-profit
Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO).
In the course of his sister’s successful liver transplant,
Schwartz learned of TRIO’s mission to support, advocate,
and educate on matters of the transplant process and in
2002, he first became involved as a committee member of
the Long Island Chapter.
“TRIO is a source of support to donors, recipients,
and families of both,” stated Schwartz. “In
my own family’s experience, TRIO provided much needed
information and education in dealing with the significant
issues faced by transplant recipients. I am glad to add
my voice to TRIO’s voice by serving on the Board.”
TRIO’s Long Island chapter (www.litrio.com), located
in Garden City, NY, produces newsletters and a website with
links to the latest information on a range of issues from
healthcare coverage to public awareness about the need and
benefit of organ donation. In addition, the website provides
a Donor Registry and a subscription services for questions
and answers. A choral group, The Long Island TRIO Singers,
appears at sports events and other venues to heighten donor
awareness. In 2004 they were invited to sing the National
Anthem at Shea Stadium and invited back for a repeat performance
this August.
Donald Jay Schwartz is partner-in-charge of The Firm’s
Litigation Department (www.forchellilaw.com) and concentrates
his practice on all phases of commercial and civil litigation,
including matters of personal injury, commercial landlord
and tenant, partnership, and insurance law.
