Andrew E. Curto Comments on Current Rules
Barring Electronic Devices in the latest Issue of Long
Island Business News
“Rule Barring Laptops Penalizes Private Attorneys” by
Michael H. Samuels, 7/30/09
Mineola, July 30th 2009 — Andrew
E. Curto, Litigation Partner, comments on the current rules
on electronic devices between the various courthouses in
the latest Issue of Long Island Business News.
In this article,
various attorneys comment on a new rule by a Manhattan
federal court ? barring laptops from entering the courts
without a court order ? which concerns local attorneys
since many courts have different rules and set their own
policies for electronic devices.
Attorneys from Long Island
and New York City have been protesting the decision, arguing
that the electronic devices are essential for a lawyer’s daily work. Mr. Curto
states, “It clearly impacts your ability to efficiently
plan things. There’s got to be a balance between
(the rules) and how inefficient they make lawyers.”
