Associate Andrea Tsoukalas Publishes
Article in the Latest Issue of the New York Real Estate
Journal.
NYREJ: “Why is zoning due diligence important
to a purchases or developer of real property” 6/8/07
Mineola, June 8, 2007 — Associate Andrea Tsoukalas
published an article in the latest issue of the New York
Real Estate Journal. The article, “Why is zoning due
diligence important to a purchaser or developer of real
property,” discusses the importance and affects of
due diligence.
Ms. Tsoukalas explains, “This heightened level of
due diligence is necessary because in New York there is
no “municipal estoppel”. This means that a municipality
may not be prevented from revoking an improperly issued
building permit or certificate of occupancy or repudiating
the advice of a public official and, therefore, a developer’s
reliance on an improperly issued document is not a defense
to its revocation.”
Ms. Tsoukalas concentrates her practice in zoning, land
use, environmental, municipal matters and civil litigation.
She represents a wide variety of clients, including national
corporate chains, local developers and small business owners
in the development of commercial and residential properties.
She also serves as counsel to the Village of Kensington
Zoning Board of Appeals and the Architectural Review Board.
