Jeffrey D. Forchelli is featured in the Long Island Business
News’ listing of "Who's Who in Commercial &
Residential Real Estate Law."
In the article, Mr. Forchelli, suggests that when purchasing
residential or commercial real estate, “potential
buyers pay close attention to title issues, as well as any
pre-existing land use approvals that may ultimately affect
the use of the property.”
He cited a recent matter where a client came to him unaware
of zoning restrictions that were imposed decades ago on
property that he recently purchased.
“Sometime in the 1960’s, a municipal Planning
Board approved the subdivision of the property, but the
restrictions imposed at the time of approval were never
recorded in the County Clerk’s Office,” he said.
“Eventually, when the client attempted to develop
his property, he found that he was still bound by a pre-existing
restriction that he was unaware of.”
Mr. Forchelli founded the law firm of Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP in
1976 and has served as its Managing Partner ever since.
His extensive personal practice concentrates on complex
real estate and land use matters, including litigation and
tax certiorari for major real estate developers and national
corporations. He has served as Counsel to the New York State
Assembly, and served on the Legal Advisory Board and on
the Board of Directors of Security Title and Guaranty Company.
Mr. Forchelli was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in
American Law (8th Edition) and is consistently included
in the "Who's Who in Law" listing by Long Island
Business News.
