Firm Featured as a ‘Green
Leader’ in Newsday
Uniondale, June 15, 2010 — Forchelli, Curto, Deegan,
Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana, LLP (the Firm) was
featured as the June Green Leader in Newsday. While
the GreenSt LI program is about saving Long Island, one
person at a time, Newsday’s Green Leaders program
focuses on those businesses that recognize that the only
way to really move Long Island to a greener place is with
the help of business leaders. Real Estate Partner Brian
Sahn was interviewed on the Firm’s commitment to
sustainability and quest for Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design, LEED-certification.
He noted the Firm’s commitment
to maintain an eco-friendly presence, and detailed how
build-out of the turnkey space incorporated a multitude
of ‘green’ and sustainable
construction materials and techniques which were overseen
by a LEED- accredited architect. In addition to the eco-friendly
programs, the Firm registered the project with the U.S.
Green Building Council (USGBC) for LEED Certification in
Commercial Interiors. ”A clean, healthy working environment
makes your employees happier; it makes them less likely
to be out sick; and it makes them more productive during
the day,” said Sahn. The new space not only saves
energy and money for the Firm, but also creates work environment
for employees.
GreenStreet LI is sponsored by The Sustainability
Institute at Molloy College which is committed to environmental
education and recognizing Long Island's Green Leaders.
