Gary M. Kushner (California Western School of Law, 1982)
concentrates his practice in the areas of bankruptcy and
chapter 11 reorganization, creditors’ rights, insolvency
and related litigation, civil trial practice, and commercial
litigation. He began his career as a bankruptcy lawyer
in New York City and was later named partner at the Long
Island-based Sachs, Kamhi & Kushner, P.C. Mr. Kushner
merged his practice with the Firm’s in January of
2004 as partner-in-charge of the Firm’s Bankruptcy
and Insolvency Department.
Mr. Kushner has represented a
broad range of clients from corporate and personal debtors,
entities that acquire assets from a bankruptcy estate,
landlords, secured and unsecured creditors, and official
committees of unsecured creditors. He has extensive experience
in all aspects of bankruptcy law, including high-profile
Chapter 11 cases, workout and debt restructuring, financing and asset purchase
agreements and other loan transactions primarily presented in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy
case. He focuses a significant portion of his practice on bankruptcy litigation,
including preference litigation, other avoidance actions, including recovery
of fraudulent conveyances, and non-dischargeability of debt litigation.
He is
a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the New
York State Bar Association, where he has served as a guest
speaker on various topics related to bankruptcy matters.
In 2008, Mr. Kushner was recognized by Long
Island Business News in Who’s Who in Tax
and Bankruptcy Law.
